About Me

My husband Charles was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2010, and his journey ended in April 2018.  I am a mental health professional, which didn’t really help with the fear, frustration, worry, and overwhelming sadness.  It did help with my ability to find resources and with developing the tools and skills I brought to this very challenging situation.  I loved my husband dearly, and I wanted to be his rock as we went through this journey.  I tried very hard to maintain my optimism, hope, sense of humor, and sanity.  This blog shares my personal reflections and struggles with as much honesty as I can muster.  I hope it can also serve as a forum for information that will be helpful to other “care partners” or caregivers supporting a partner with Alzheimer’s or other dementia.  I’m currently working on a book for partners of people with dementia, because their situation is different than that of other family members.  Follow me on Twitter @AlzPartner
